Denver Nuggets Draft Picks: Building a Bright Future

Nuggets Acquire Jalen Pickett and Julian Strawther

June 22nd, 2023

In a strategic move to bolster their roster, the Denver Nuggets added two promising prospects in the recent NBA Draft: Penn State's Jalen Pickett and Gonzaga's Julian Strawther. With the 32nd overall pick, the Nuggets selected Pickett, a dynamic ball-handler known for his court vision and playmaking abilities.

At 6'3", Pickett brings a combination of size and athleticism to the Nuggets' backcourt. His exceptional court awareness and ability to create scoring opportunities for himself and others will undoubtedly be valuable assets to the team. Additionally, Pickett's defensive prowess, particularly his quick hands and anticipation, will help shore up the Nuggets' perimeter defense.

With their sole first-round selection, the Nuggets opted for Gonzaga's 6'7" forward Julian Strawther. Strawther impressed scouts with his versatility and athleticism, having averaged 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in his junior season. His strong physique and explosive leaping ability suggest that he will be an immediate contributor on the defensive end, particularly in protecting the rim.

Strawther's offensive skillset is well-rounded, as he can score from both inside and outside the paint. His ability to stretch the defense with his three-point shooting will provide much-needed spacing for the Nuggets' star-studded lineup. Furthermore, his high basketball IQ and willingness to hustle make him a valuable addition to a team with championship aspirations.

With the acquisition of Pickett and Strawther, the Denver Nuggets have taken a significant step towards securing their future success. These two players possess the talent and potential to make an immediate impact on the team and contribute to the Nuggets' chase for an elusive NBA title.
