Florida Panthers Fall to Lightning in Game 3

Panthers Lose 5-4 in Overtime, Trail Series 3-0

Despite a valiant effort, the Florida Panthers fell to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 in overtime in Game 3 of their second-round playoff series on Tuesday night in Sunrise, Florida.

The Panthers, who trailed 3-0 in the series, got off to a strong start and took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaeghe.

The Lightning battled back to tie the game in the second period on goals from Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, but the Panthers regained the lead late in the period on a goal from Sam Bennett.

The Lightning tied the game again in the third period on a goal from Steven Stamkos, and the game went to overtime.

In overtime, the Lightning scored the game-winning goal on a power play just 2:04 into the extra period.

The Panthers will now need to win the next four games in order to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.
