Central Michigan Investigating Possible Presence of Michigan's Connor Stalions on Sidelines
Suspended Staffer at Center of Sign-Stealing Scandal
Investigation Stems from Photos Resembling Michigan Staff Member
Central Michigan University (CMU) has launched an investigation into the possible presence of suspended Michigan football staff member Connor Stalions on the CMU sidelines during the recent Michigan State game.
The investigation stems from photos that emerged on social media purportedly showing a man resembling Stalions standing on the sidelines next to CMU players. Stalions has been at the center of a sign-stealing scandal involving the Michigan Wolverines, resulting in his suspension indefinitely.
CMU athletic director Dave Heeke confirmed the investigation in a statement, saying, "We are aware of the photos and have initiated an investigation to determine their validity. We take any potential violations of NCAA and MAC rules very seriously." Stalions and CMU have declined to comment on the matter while the investigation is underway.
If proven true, the presence of Stalions on CMU's sidelines would raise questions about his involvement in any potential competitive advantages gained by Michigan during the 2022 season. The NCAA has stated that any potential penalties would be determined after a full investigation is completed.
The escalating scandal surrounding Connor Stalions has now extended to another institution, casting a shadow over the integrity of college football. The outcome of CMU's investigation will shed light on the depth and extent of this controversy, leaving a lasting impression on the sport and its reputation.
