Donna Vekić, the top-ranked Croatian tennis player, has sensationally advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals on Tuesday, marking her first Grand Slam semifinal appearance in her 43rd appearance at a major tournament.

Vekić, who reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2019, defeated New Zealand qualifier Lulu Sun in straight sets to book her place in the last four. She will face either defending champion Elena Rybakina or Ajla Tomljanović in the semifinals.

The 26-year-old Vekić is having a breakout season in 2024, having won her first WTA Tour title in Adelaide earlier this year. She is now ranked No. 20 in the world and is one of the favorites to win Wimbledon.
