Lightning Strikes Twice for GB's Kerr
The United States has once again proven its dominance in the world of track and field by topping the medal table at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. The American team amassed an impressive haul of 33 medals, including 13 golds, 9 silvers, and 11 bronzes.
Great Britain also had a strong showing, matching its all-time best medal count of 10. Among their highlights was Jake Wightman's stunning victory in the men's 1500 meters, where he became the first British athlete to win gold in the event since 1983. Laura Muir added a silver in the women's 1500 meters, and Dina Asher-Smith took bronze in the women's 200 meters.
One of the most memorable moments of the championships came in the women's 1500 meters, where Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie led a British charge to the podium, with Muir taking silver and Reekie claiming bronze behind Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands. It was an historic result for Great Britain, marking the first time two British women had medaled in the same individual event at the World Athletics Championships since 1991.
